Dept of Education WA: Transforming content through strict governance
The Department of Education Western Australia supports 67,000 teachers and staff working across more than 800 schools. Originally merging 68 separate intranets over the years, “Ikon” based on the Liferay CMS has been driven by continual improvement. The team have implemented user-centric content design principles and processes to deliver content that is purposeful, readable, findable and accessible. The intranet is ruthlessly focused on the needs of users, with a number of templates with well-considered layouts that reflect the content principles.
A strict governance framework is in place to consistently execute the principles without exception. Additional features include integration of digital forms, the use of a process mapping tool to map workflows and more. The successful delivery of Ikon reflects the passion and persistence of the Ikon team.
