Aurecon: Standardising technical knowledge across the enterprise
Engineering, design and advisory firm, Aurecon, has carried out an initiative to standardise a wide variety of technical knowledge and assets across all its disciplines. Triggered by issues with findability and a reorganisation of how Aurecon’s disciplines are structured, the project has reviewed all technical assets, and established robust governance to create a new “Standardisation Library” of technical knowledge.
Metadata and taxonomy standards have been applied to support findability, lifecycle management and more. An AI-powered agent has also been launched to enable a conversational interface to help employees find assets. Highlights of the project include a clear ownership model, automated review cycles, a focus on change and adoption, an access model that appeals to Aurecon’s five-generation workforce, and a three-stage implementation strategy. Initial adoption and usage levels have been healthy.
