Ashghal: Designing the intranet as a digital command centre
Ashghal, a Qatari government organisation responsible for building major public infrastructure projects, has designed an intranet that provides a highly-integrated environment for employees to get work done. Positioned as a ‘digital command centre’, the intranet delivers a personalised environment that brings together HR self-service, task and workflow management, enterprise search, an AI-powered chatbot, dashboards, key operational and compliance-related resources, communications, and engagement into a single, integrated experience.
The portal supports English and Arabic versions. Based on a heavily-customised SharePoint environment, the project was delivered entirely in-house, and surfaces data from multiple systems, including Ashghal’s Oracle ERP system. The intranet enjoys high adoption and has resulted in significant cost savings.
