Burger King UK: Engaging a diverse frontline workforce
The operator of most of Burger King’s UK restaurants has launched a new intranet and accompanying mobile app, built on the Oak Engage platform. Incorporating Burger King’s distinctive branding, “BK Hub” aims to improve communication, engage frontline staff and drive efficiencies. The implementation was rapid and completed in around two months.
Highlights include a strong emphasis on user-generated content, a peer recognition feature, auto-translation to support staff who are non-native English speakers, and a combination of forms and integrations that support process improvement. The new intranet is also being used to support employee onboarding, with new recruits gaining access before their first day.
The intranet has extremely high levels of adoption and engagement and is attributed to reducing the drop-out rate of new starters. Several processes involving managers have seen operational improvements.
