Last week we were delighted to have a full house for our annual DEX 2024 conference in Sydney. We had an outstanding lineup of speakers–both international and local–all of whom shared their experiences openly and generously.
There was a great energy throughout the day, both in the sessions and on the terrace during the breaks. Everyone raved about how good the speaker line-up was, and how nice it was to not have vendors on stage (sorry vendors, no offence meant!).
Some of the key insights from the day included:
- There are many ways of delivering an Award-winning intranet, from Comcast‘s impressively polished site, through to the best-practice approach taken by NZ Super Fund and Scope‘s triumph over adversity.
- It’s time to start going beyond the hype of GenAI, to consider the governance that organisations need to put in place, as well as properly assessing whether individual use cases are suitable for a GenAI-based solution.
- Change management can be done simply and effectively, even at the scale of a global organisation like Visa.
- Forcing staff back into physical offices is deeply counterproductive and as a result: offices, hybrid work and digital workplaces need to work better together.
- Enterprise social works as Transport for NSW demonstrated, and taking a purpose-led strategic approach (using the Enterprise Social Framework) will deliver sustainability and real business benefits.
- Onboarding matters, and the experience as a whole should be crafted, and strongly aligned with the organisation’s purpose and brand.
We were over the moon with how DEX 2024 went, and we can’t wait to bring it back to Sydney in September 2025. Start chatting to your manager now about setting aside budget for your whole team to attend!
