Early in the year, we outlined a possible New Year’s Resolution for intranet teams: to deliver three wins in three months. The idea was a simple one:
Deliver three “wins” in three months (February, March & April), where a “win” is an above the waterline improvement that helps bring kudos to the intranet team.
We had a great response from across the internet, with many teams deciding to join in, either publicly or privately.
For those participating, you’ve hopefully now delivered your first “win” at the end of February. If you’re running a little late, don’t worry! If you didn’t get a chance to join in at the beginning: it’s never too late to start making an impact! :-)
We’ve heard some great stories:
In a large bank, the idea of three wins in three months help unblock the intranet team, who were stuck waiting for IT to sign-off a major redevelopment. With six months having passed and still no clear word, delivering incremental improvements helped to maintain momentum within the team, as well as providing an opportunity for team members to do more than just maintain the site in a “holding pattern”.
At a media company, the new intranet manager was confronted by the legacy of the previous person in the role. With a daunting list of projects already delivered, the question was: what to do next, and how to prove themselves early on? Focusing on three enhancements gave a practical approach, and allowed the new intranet manager to get started with renewed confidence.
How are you going with your three wins?
Do you have a success story to share?
(And again, it’s not too late to join in. Read through the process outlined in the three wins in three months post, and get going!)
