One-day in-house workshop

This one day in-house workshop will introduce your team to usability testing, a technique that allows them to improve your systems and sites by regularly testing them with the people who will actually be using them.

Your team will learn quick and inexpensive techniques, as well as some fundamental principles that will allow them to check that the target audience will be able to successfully use your system.

While the workshop will focus on websites and intranets, the techniques learnt are equally useful for developing applications, or even physical devices.

During the workshop, your team will learn:

  • how to conduct practical usability testing sessions
  • what type of testing is most suitable for your project
  • what parts of the system or site you should focus on testing
  • how many participants to involve, who to involve and how to recruit them
  • how to write scenarios that participants understand and are motivated to do
  • how to identify key usability issues
  • how to resolve the usability problems that are identified during the testing
  • how to include usability testing in your projects

At the end of the day your team will be ready to run a usability evaluation as part of your projects.

Your team will also have a clear understanding of the role that usability testing should play in the broader field of user-centred design.

Hands-on experience

The workshop is interactive, practical and hands-on. Your team will be working in groups to prepare, then run a usability evaluation for an existing site or application.

The workshop is facilitated by an experienced usability professional, and our goal is to make sure that you have sufficient experience to conduct straight forward usability tests the moment your finished.
