Practical intranet governance (a one day workshop)
Have you been tasked with implementing intranet governance in your organisation and not sure where to start? This practical and hands-on workshop will give you the skills and knowledge you need to implement intranet governance and the related documents to ensure the smooth running of your intranet.
Sydney: Friday 18 May 2012 (as part of Intranets2012)
Brisbane: Monday 19 March 2012 (register online)
Effective intranet governance is the foundation for a successful intranet. The best design and technology in the world will lead to little if there isn’t clarity on how the intranet will be managed and kept up-to-date. Good governance is also crucial for gaining (and sustaining) senior management support.
Creating intranet policies, guidelines and other governance documents can be daunting. Starting from a blank sheet of paper, there is so much to cover. The importance of the intranet is also its biggest challenge: every area of the business is a stakeholder, with needs and priorities to consider.
This workshop demystifies intranet governance, providing a practical framework for managing the policies, people and politics involved. Through hands-on activities and many real-world examples of actual governance documents, participants will step through creating their own intranet governance model.
Run by Step Two Designs, the undisputed global experts on intranets, this workshop is a must-do for all intranet teams.
"Intensive" format
This is an "intensive" workshop where numbers are strictly limited to 10 participants. This ensures a high degree of interactivity, allowing your key questions to be answered, and your big challenges to be resolved.
Your questions answered
This workshop will answer many common questions, including:
- What should governance look like in our organisation?
- How can governance help deliver the ideal intranet?
- How do I get executive buy-in?
- Who should own the intranet?
- How do I ‘protect’ the homepage and the integrity of our design?
Workshop agenda
Topics covered during the day include:
- What is intranet governance and what it means to your organisation
- Creating a one page strategy document for your intranet
- Intranet guidelines, policies and standards
- Creating a homepage policy
- System governance
- Five key intranet policies
- Ownership and getting executive buy-in
- Creating a roles and responsibilities chart
What makes this workshop unique
This is not a theoretical workshop! We know how hard it is to get the time to create governance documents, so we have designed this workshop so you will walk away with actual draft documents for your organisation, including:
- one page strategy document (intranet concept)
- home page policy
- roles and Responsibilities chart
You will also leave the day with a pile of practical examples of governance documents, to help you complete your guidelines, policies and standards. (It’s so much easier to work from prior examples, rather than having to make up documents from scratch.)
Who should attend
- intranet teams
- internal communicators
- knowledge managers
- IT strategists
- business analysts
- project teams responsible for deploying a new intranet
