[Upcoming Seminars]

To be successful, information management initiatives must quickly become valuable to the business, delivering tangible and visible benefits. This is particularly challenging when information management projects are large and complex, with the goal of addressing problems that have not proven easy to solve in the past.

Information management teams also struggle to answer the question: where to start? With so many different technologies on offer and competing internal priorities, this is never an easy question to answer.

This one day workshop provides information management teams with an opportunity to focus exclusively on information management strategy and planning. Current directions will be challenged, and new techniques and approaches provided to deliver "above the water line" benefits within the first six months.

Topics covered during the day:

  • traditional approaches to information management planning and why these haven’t worked
  • the ten principles for effective information management
  • practical ways of identifying staff needs
  • putting in place a realistic information management roadmap
  • positioning information management as an effective business tool that contributes to organisational goals and bottom line results
  • leading successful initiatives and gaining management support
  • redefining the role of information management teams

The workshop draws on unique, proven and repeatable methodologies for planning and growing information management initiatives. Real-world case studies and examples will be used throughout, giving unique insights into the successes (and failures) of others. This will shed light on how to put theory into practice, even in complex or political organisations.

By the end of the day, you will come away inspired and enthusiastic, ready to tackle your information management challenges!

Who is this workshop for?

This workshop is targeted specifically at those running information management initiatives. Regardless of the technologies being explored, this workshop will help to identify an overall strategy and roadmap, as well as identifying practical first steps.

IT managers and CIOs will also greatly benefit from this workshop, as it will share insights from a range of leading Australasian organisations.

Past experience has shown that it can be very valuable to bring along several participants, to provide an opportunity to jointly work on approaches for your organisation.

Going beyond the theory

It is one thing to talk about information management technologies at a high level, but another to put it into practice in complex organisational situations. The great strength of this workshop is that Cairo has played an operational role in this space for the last decade, and will be sharing many real-world examples.

This includes:

  • bringing together intranets, collaboration and core applications into a single solution
  • identifying simple and effective solutions to support information management needs within call centres
  • meeting front-line and field staff needs in geographically dispersed organisations
  • avoiding unnecessary spending on complex technologies by identifying targeted business solutions
  • involving stakeholders throughout the process to deliver solutions that will actually be used by staff
  • understanding the role of people in information management projects and systems
  • making the best use of key tools, including wikis and blogs
  • taking a leadership role to information management strategy, even in complex organisations

About the Leadership Series

We have been working for many years on building up a huge body of knowledge in our chosen fields, including a wide range of innovative models and approaches. The Leadership Series of workshops are designed to share this depth of experience, with the goal of building up team expertise and knowledge within organisations.

These workshops draw upon many case studies and examples to provide real-world solutions to the most difficult challenges.

These workshops are different to those run by generic training or conference companies. Workshops are run by the actual thought-leaders, responsible for developing new ideas and insights. Our whole team also hold nationally accredited training qualifications.

These workshops are not about us talking at the front of the room and 'death by Powerpoint'. Hands-on activities are used to explore key techniques and issues. Time is also allocated to explore specific questions and issues raised by participants.

The Leadership Series of workshops are constantly evolving to reflect the latest thinking in the field. We are confident that you will find many new ideas that can be put into practice in your organisation.
