Nice posting on IA and what it means to an enterprise. Effective Information Architectures are crucial to tuned business process systems. Remember business process flows is nothing but flow of information controlled by present or preset human decisions automated by IT systems. The whole point is that every system in the business world has a unique information organization and structure to be attained, which is the task of the Information Architect, thus taking the enterprise towards effective information flows and thus process improvement.

The topic of IA is endless and becomes more infinite when we correlate it with the overll theme of Enterprise Architecture.

Nice overview of IA. However, you might want to reconcile your heading “Creating an effective information architecture in 9 steps” with the fact that you have 11 steps listed.
