Hi Paula, we're definitely looking for good examples of these changes for the next edition of the Staff Directories report. Have you blogged any good case studies?

Au contraire. The morphing of profiles and directories is already occurring. And it all fits into at least one larger scenario of "expertise finding".

As it happens, I've just blogged on the topic of <a href="http://www.steptwo.com.au/columntwo/my-sites-do-they-work/" rel="nofollow">my sites</a>, which is along the lines of what you're suggesting.
How about a link to the 'personal profile' page if that is a seperate distinct entity from the staff directory entry (and I think it should be).

The 'Personal profile' page should then allow the individual to spread the cross linking goodness, by including links to intranet pages or workspaces for each project they are involved, committee's they sit on etc.

Thanks for this article. A good reminder to find more opportunities for cross linking. One thing we do that isn't on your list is the "people -> projects" link. Our directory automatically lists the 5 projects that the staff member has spent the most billable time on in the last few months.
