Yes, this came up at the public intranet workshop I ran yesterday for comms folks. There were quite heated debates about where teams should be focusing their resources, and what the highest value content really was.

I think you’re focus on improving content related to key tasks is a good one, rather than meeting the needs of the most politically important.

I agree with a lot of this. What tends to happen in these cases is that the centralised team end up writing news and messages for important people. Meanwhile the hobbyists are left to write the content for the high volume important tasks that can really have an effect on efficiency.

Intranet teams tend to focus on information when they should be focussing on task efficiency.
