Seeking intranet governance examples
Categorised under: Intranets
We’re currently working on a very targeted report on intranet governance, providing an underlying framework and some key tips on how to establish governance in practice. We will also be including examples of various approaches to intranet governance.
We’ve already got some great examples, but are seeking more:
- intranet policies, guidelines and standards
- collaboration policies, guidelines and standards
- overall intranet governance models
That’s a broad list of topics, but we’re interesting in covering the full spectrum of governance, from a single diagram or one-page policy, to a full set of standards.
This is a great way for intranet teams to get some recognition for the work they’re doing. If you’re happy to share what you’ve done (and don’t be shy!), send Amanda Broomhall an email.

James,
I recently saw a great governance model being used by the intranet team at New Zealand Parliament.

The key take away I had from this was the demotion of project managers so that the best thing for the organisation , not the thing that made the project looked best became dominant.
Projects could be put on hold and resource re-allocated depending on strategic requirements of the organisation, i.e. resources serving the organisation.
This model had been introduced with the use of the Scrum development model and from what the team reported was working wonders for delivery times and quality of output.
I’m going to contact them and blog about it because since I’ve seen it their model makes more and more sense to me.
I’ll let you know when I have.
