As we predicted, there’s been a huge pivot in the SharePoint marketplace, towards intranet products that sit on SharePoint or Office365, along with a similar rise in other out-of-the-box intranet products.
There are now 50+ products in the market, and that’s still growing rapidly. While all of these products are better than bare-bones Office365 or SharePoint, they are all very different in what they offer, and how they work.
If you’re planning on moving to one of these solutions, it can be daunting to know where to start, and how to find the best solution for your needs. This is where Step Two can help find the right product.
For over 15 years, we’ve been helping clients select new intranet and website solutions. We play an expert but vendor-neutral role, with deep knowledge of what’s out there, but with no commercial ties to any of the solutions.
We’re unique in what we do within Australia, and we’re part of an informal but tight-knit network of expert technology advisors around the globe (such as ClearBox Consulting in the UK, and Real Story Group in the USA).
How we work
Our goal is to make the selection process as quick and painless as possible, while giving you confidence that you’ve found the right product.
The starting point is a unique activity structured around our Intranet Building Blocks cards (shown above). These outline all the common pieces of intranet functionality, allowing you to quickly scope out what you need at a high level.
We then conduct a requirements workshop where an RFP is constructed while we talk. You outline what your business needs, and we share expert intranet and product knowledge. By the time you walk out of this initial workshop, the RFP is 90% finished.
In a matter of days, we can provide you with a final RFP, ready to go to the market. We then give you a shortlist of 5 vendors who are strong contenders for your needs. We provide support through to structured vendor demonstrations, and ultimately a final decision.
In as little as 3-4 months, you can go from a standing start to a chosen vendor. Even more importantly, you will be ready to jump straight into the implementation project, with the confidence that the vendor is right for you.
We’ve done this a lot
Our clients over the last 15 years have ranged from BHP to Hobart City Council, from Westpac to Wesley Mission Brisbane, and from Canon to the University of Sydney. We’re experienced in corralling big groups of stakeholders, as well as getting stuck straight in when the path ahead is clear.
We’ve now refined the process to the point where we can offer you a fixed price proposal for our battle-tested methodology. We also commit to giving you whatever support you need through to a final decision, at no extra cost.
If you’re about to kick off a selection project, get in touch. If you’ve started talking to vendors — and things are getting muddier rather than clearer! — then get in touch. We’d be happy to talk through our approach, and to start within days if that’s what’s needed.
