Enterprise CMSIs it just me, or is everyone else sick of the big ECMS players all starting their press releases with "the world's leading CMS vendor", etc, etc? Surely they can't all be number one? Posted by jamesr on May 25, 2004 12:06 PM
Given the inflexibility of a lot of these systems, I can approve of them being number one in their own little world, and their statements pretty much is a givaway of that. :) Posted by: Alex on May 25, 2004 01:12 PM I think they are struggling for a way to differentiate themselves in a simpl tagline, and having failed to do so, have fallen back on the trite old standby. It could be fun to pen a replacement for them. E.g. "Vendor X, formerly a sleepy workflow and document management provider now taking a stab at all sorts of products in what it vaguely calls a 'suite,' announced today..." Posted by: Tony Byrne on May 25, 2004 02:46 PM Amen! My favorite was Zope recently describing themselves as a leading provider of enterprise content management solutions. But perhaps this was a thinly veiled attempt to poke fun at the meaningless marketing drivel you highlight here? Somehow I doubt it.. Posted by: Brice Dunwoodie on May 28, 2004 10:49 AM |
