Managing Director
Step Two Designs Pty Ltd
|
Overview
James Robertson is the founder and Managing Director of Step Two Designs, a vendor-neutral consultancy located in Australia.
James is recognised as one of the world-wide thought leaders on the topics of web content management and intranet strategy. He
has worked with many organisations in both the public and private sectors, including Fortune 500 companies and Federal Government
agencies. In particular, he has helped many organisations to select a suitable content management system (CMS), or to develop an
effective approach to the design and management of their intranets. James has also mentored a number of intranet teams, providing
insight into organisational change issues and leadership approaches.
James has been a keynote presenter at conferences throughout Australia, as well as in New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore and the
UK. He regularly runs one and two-day practical workshops on intranet and content management topics, both within Australia and
internationally.
James is the author of the Content Management Requirements Toolkit, the Staff Directories report, and An Introduction to
XML for Knowledge Managers. He also led the development of the Intranet Roadmap,
the only publicly-released methodology that covers all aspects of intranet development (or redevelopment).
James' primary focus is on the strategic aspects of information management and on the organisational change required to deliver
effective business outcomes. He also has a deep understanding of usability, information architecture and user-centred design. He
is a nationally-certified trainer (Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training).
James is a member of the Board of Advisors for the University of Washington iSchool CMS Evaluation Lab, alongside other
industry leaders such as JoAnn Hackos, Lou Rosenfeld and Gerry McGovern. He has also been listed by CMS Watch as one of '20
leaders to see in 2003', as well as being a founding member of the CM Professionals association.
