Strategic intranet projects

One financial services organisation we’ve worked with talked of their “intranet solar system”, consisting of plants of content, orbited by moons, and surrounded by asteroid belts. The central intranet team managed several of the “planets” but not others, and there was no overall strategy or governance. Our challenge was to develop an overall framework, supporting short- and long-term intranet improvements.

This situation has been typical of our work for large financial services organisations, and our clients include:

  • Commonwealth Bank, developing an overall intranet model and strategy, along with a phased approach for delivery. Alongside this, we worked with key business areas to improve their sections of the intranet.
  • ANZ, creating an enterprise-wide intranet strategy and framework, supporting the bank’s growth throughout the Asian region. This addressed key challenges relating to delivering intranets in multiple countries, across multiple brands, and in multiple languages.
  • Rabobank Australia, researching staff needs with a particular focus on staff in remote offices, and developing an overall strategy.
  • Rabobank International, working with the global intranet team based in The Netherlands, to advise on overall intranet strategy.
  • AXA UK, providing mentoring support to the central intranet team and business area intranet coordinators.
  • AMP, mentoring the then intranet manager, to identify areas of strength and weakness, and to build internal expertise and knowledge.
  • Westpac, providing advice and helping to shape an intranet business case for the redevelopment of the corporate intranet.
